While our firm serves a wide variety of clients and industries, from the very beginning, there has always been a concentration of clients in the medical profession that we have helped in tax planning and compliance work. These clients include independent nurse practitioners, physical therapists, internal medicine practices, and surgeons – basically, anyone who deals with ICD and CPT codes, plus a few clients that are lucky enough to rely on self-pay patients or workers’ compensation.
Overall, the industry is undergoing a significant amount of transition for a variety of reasons. The recent trend of consolidation within the medical profession is expected to continue in the future as doctors in private practice continue to get squeezed with declining reimbursements from Medicare and the major insurance carriers while also having increased costs year after year.
Because of my background in public accounting servicing medical profession clients plus serving three years as a controller for a large orthopaedic practice, I am uniquely aware of the challenges most medical practices face. I can offer great resources and solutions to help improve operations in addition to tax planning and compliance work.
